Health and Wellness a Focus of Malama Ola Festival (to take care of life)
A series of health and fitness classes along with lectures on Hawaiian health and healing practices are lined up for October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the Grand Hyatt Kaua`i Resort and Spa in Po`ipu.
PO`IPU, KAUA`I, HI, September 10, 2009 -- A focus on Hawaiian healing practices are offered to the public at no charge in a series of health and wellness activities grouped together under the title, Malama Ola Festival (to take care of life) on October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Taking place at the Grand Hyatt Kaua`i, Resort and Spa, the 3rd annual Malama Ola Festival provides opportunities for residents and visitors to partake in a variety of fitness classes and attend demonstrations and lectures at the resort. Based at the resort’s ANARA Spa, classes include hula aerobics, aqua fitness, electric vinyasa and restorative yoga, fitness walks to Po`ipu Beach, interval training, detox methods and aqua aerobics. Demonstrations of lomi lomi (massage), acupuncture, uses of herbal medicines, along with discussions on Hawaiian women warriors and the healing fundamentals of meditation are lined up for October 3rd, in Garden Isle Rooms IV and V. Class sizes are limited. Held in conjunction with the Hawaiiana Festival, also occurring October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the same location, complete event times and details can be found at http://hawaiianafestival.wetpaint.com.
